The Sox were even with the Angels 2-2 until Garret Anderson drove a pinch-hit sac fly for the go-ahead run to give Joe Saunders his 15th win.
John Danks held the Angels scoreless until the sixth, where they tied things up with two runs. Teixeira got on board with a double and took third on Vlad’s single and scored on Torii Hunter’s RBI-double. Vlad then touched home on Juan Rivera’s groundout. Gary Matthews Jr. singled in the eighth, took third on Teixeira’s double and scored the go-ahead run on Anderson’s sac fly.
Saunders held the Sox to two runs on four hits before leaving in the eighth inning. He gave up two solo homeruns in the fourth and fifth innings and was able to pick up his 15th win when the Angels took the lead in the eighth. Jose Arrendondo finished the inning before K-Rod got the save, his 55th, which moves him just two saves away from the single season record.
The Angels ended up .500 on the six-game road trip and head back home to open a series with the Yankees. Jon Garland will take the mound and face Carl Pavano. Garland picked up a no-decision in his last outing and is 4-5 lifetime against the Bronx Bombers. Pavano is 2-0 and will make just his third start this year, he is also 2-0 lifetime against the Angels.
