The Angels took a 4-3 loss from the Jays to lose the sweep in Toronto, but have still won 2 out of 3 for the road trip before as they head to Chicago.
The Jays scored first for three runs and the Angels tied it up with two in the fifth and one in the sixth. Casey Kotchman singled in the fifth, moved to second when Jeff Mathis was hit by a pitch, and scored when Sean Rodriguez doubled him in for his first MLB RBI. Rodriguez then scored when Macier Izturis doubled. The Angels added one in the sixth off a Mathis RBI-single to tie it at 3. Kotchman and Garret Anderson each went 2 for 4, with Kotchman moving his road average to .352 to lead the AL.
Ervin Santana got his second loss after giving up a go-ahead solo homerun to Lyle Overbay in the sixth. Santana had given up two in the third and one in the fourth, but kept the Jays at three when he escaped a one-out bases loaded jam in the fourth. The difference was the two-strike homerun to Overbay to give Santana the loss.
The Angels still remain 2 1/2 games above the A’s in the division.
