Angels Open Series with Blue Jays

by @ 8:43 am. Filed under 2008 Angels

The Angels open a three-game series with the Jays at home tonight, who stand 3 games behind in the AL East and have won seven of their last eight.

The Angels will send Jered Weaver to the mound after coming off his best outing of the season, giving up no runs in eight innings to shut out the White Sox. Weaver looks for a win to even his record at 5-5 and will faceĀ Dustin McGowan, who stands at 3-4 with a 3.90 ERA. McGowan is 0-3 lifetime against the Angels, including a loss to them on May 20th.

The Angel bats have been nearly silent in the last couple weeks, but the team has still managed to win the past four consecutive series. They have won seven of their last ten, with the help of the pitchers who have allowed just 22 runs in those ten games. The Jays’ two wins over the A’s have helped to keep the AngelsĀ 2 1/5 above the A’s for the division.
