The Angels, after going 5-1 on this homestand including a sweep of the Red Sox, head out for a 10-game road trip to Baltimore, Boston, and finally New York.
The Angels head into Baltimore with a 10-game lead over the A’s in the division. That lead is the largest for the club since August 1995 when they were 10 1/2 games up. That same month they set the club record with an 11 game lead. The Angels have a chance tonight to tie that record with a win and an A’s loss. They send Joe Saunders to the mound in search of lucky win number 13. Saunders threw a two-run no decision in his last outing against the Red Sox. He will face lefty Brian Burres, who is 7-6 with a 5.02 ERA. Burres has lost just two starts in his last 11 outings.
