The Angels continue their road trip to Chicago to face the White Sox, who lead the AL Central. The Angels took two of four when they hosted the Sox last week, dropping the final game of the series to start the Sox on their current eight-game win streak.
Joe Saunders will make the start after being scratched from last night’s start because of the flu. He will go for his eighth win, which would tie him with Dice-K for the most victories in the AL. The Sox will start Gavin Floyd, who stands at 4-2 with a 2.92 ERA. The Angels didn’t see Floyd in last week’s series against the Sox, and he will make his first career start against the Angels.
Chone Figgins returned from the DL Wednesday but sat yesterday because the turf at Rogers Centre would be too harsh on his hamstring that is still less than 100%. It will be a game-time decision tonight on whether he starts or not.
It has also just been revealed that the Angels will host the 2010 All-Star Game. The last time the Angels hosted the All-Star Game was in 1989 at Anaheim Stadium and banked the fourth-largest All-Star Game crowd. Bud Selig is expected to make an official announcement next week.
