Today’s off day will allow for an extra day of rest for the injured Angels before beginning a six-game Interleague homestand.
Garret Anderson was scratched from Wednesday’s lineup for a sore right knee, but two straight days of rest should allow him to feel healthy enough to return to the lineup for Friday’s opener against the Braves.
Leadoff man Chone Figgins is also expected to return to the lineup Friday. Brandon Wood was optioned to Triple A Salt Lake today to allow roster room for Figgin’s activation tomorrow. Figgins was sent to the DL after May 3rd’s game where he strained his hamstring while sliding home. He was activated and played one game before rejoining the DL for another 15 days. Figgins has been rehabbing with Triple A Salt Lake, and went 1 for 5 on Wednesday.
Erick Aybar will also likely begin a minor league rehab assignment beginning next week, which would set his date of return in about two weeks.
