The Angels took another Freeway Series from the Dodgers by beating them 10-2 with the help of Mike Napoli and Jered Weaver.
The offense exploded for four runs in the fourth, scoring one after the Dodgers made an error and then Napoli driving a three-run shot to left. Napoli added another homerun in the sixth, and ended up 3 for 4 with a career-high 5 RBI on the night. Macier Izturis and Casey Kotchman also had three-hit games, and Torri Hunter had two with two RBI.
Jered Weaver earned his third win after giving up just two runs on five hits through 5 1/3. He only struggled through one inning, in the fourth when he faced seven Dodger batters and allowed Jeff Kent to get a 2-RBI single. That rough inning along with the heat prompted Weaver to leave earlier in the sixth. Jose Arrendondo, Justin Speier, and Chris Bootcheck combined for 3 2/3 scoreless innings to hold the Dodgers at two runs and give the Angels the victory.
The win is the Angels’ ninth in the past eleven against the Dodgers in Interleague Play. The Angels are off on Monday before heading out to Toronto.
