Vladimir Guerrero is out of the lineup tonight after jamming his knee when sliding into third in Sunday’s game. Vlad went just 4 for 20 on the homestand and has an average of .249, but it still atop the highest vote-getters for the 2008 All-Star Game. His .249 BA is still better than the Angels team BA for the month of May, .232. The fans have seemed to overlook his slump and look to send Vlad back to represent the AL for the fifth consecutive year. Fellow outfielder Torii Hunter is also atop the ballot in 9th place. Hunter has an impressive .333 BA at Angel Stadium this year, and his next homerun will be the 200th of his career.
The Angels could have their leadoff man, Chone Figgins, back in the lineup by the end of the week. He is eligible to be activated from the DL on Friday, just in time for a series with the A’s in Oakland. Scioscia will likely wait to start Furcal in next week’s homestand, beginning with the Rays on Monday.
Howie Kendrick was back in the lineup tonight after missing Sunday’s game for rest after he returned from the DL for his first two starts on Friday and Saturday.
